UPDATE 5/10/2018: We fell short of our Kickstarter goal. But, because of the amazing feedback we received from former players, media outlets, and the amazing Bama’ fans, we’ve decided to move forward with the production of Roll, Crimson, Roll (we changed the name).

Football has an important place in many people’s hearts, but the love for football may not be any stronger than in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, home of the Crimson Tide.

This historic football program has built a dynasty that produces championship-caliber teams year in and year out. We want to pay homage to Alabama football by publishing a creative and engaging illustrated children’s book that can be enjoyed by kids, parents and Bama fans of all ages.

There are several reasons we want to write and illustrate a children’s book about the history and traditions of the Alabama dynasty.

1. Kids love sports and look up to collegiate athletes as role models, yet there are no great children’s sports books that use sports history to engage with kids. We want to use sports as a vehicle to get kids excited about reading!

2. Parents and families often bond with their children through sports. We want to create a book that helps parents build more memories with their kids!

3. Lifelong Alabama fans have a passion and love for their team that is unmatched. We want to give die-hard Alabama fans an incredible souvenir to commemorate Bama’s remarkable history!

4. Some people are on the fence about Alabama; maybe they’re a high school student weighing their collegiate future or another college fan who considering changing their favorite team. We want these potential Bama fans to have a glimpse of what life is like rooting for a championship program. Including the rich history of the team, the football traditions and culture, and the incredible atmosphere of the greatest college town in the country, Tuscaloosa!

There aren’t just illustrations in Roll, Crimson, Roll, there are AMAZING ILLUSTRATIONS! The illustrator for “Roll, Crimson, Roll” is the incredibly talented Steve Madden, a professional illustrator for the Tampa Bay Times.

Steve’s hand-drawn sketches for “Roll, Crimson, Roll” are well underway and you can see some below. Once we hit our goal, he’ll get the finishing touches down and begin finalizing the illustrations for print.
